Kawach Solution
The Kawach Pack is an add-on unit that interfaces between the battery bank and the motor controller on eRickshaws.
It is composed of a Battery Management System and power electronics that strategically manage demand on the battery.
This extends the life of the eRickshaw batteries by a factor of 2 times and increases range by at least 30 %. A specialized built-in fast charger doubles the charge rate and effectively cuts charge time by 50%.
Technologies
The combination of experience in the supercapacitors area of OptiXtal, Inc in the US and an exceptionally talented group of electronics engineers in Pune , India to create remote tracking software and hardware to study the unique energy utilization patterns of eVehicles in milliseconds.
Using that data collection, OptiXtal have developed a solution of hardware and algorithms tailored to the needs of more than 2 million eRickshaws to solve the problems of premature battery failure that plague those vehicles.
Preliminary Results
Kawach has been extensively tested over months with millions of data points by leading independent academics at the Electrical Engineering Department of the BVU College of Engineering , Pune ( See Research) .
As can be seen from the following graph :
- The addition of the Kawach unit , increases the range of the vehicle , initially. After time, the range of the battery with Kawach and without Kawach converge.
- After about 180 discharge cycles , the control battery discharges in less than 10 minutes while the battery with Kawach is continuing to run in excess of 20 minutes even after 280 cycles.
